The World Health Organisation (WHO) confirms the chance of transmission of Covid-19 from people to cats, puppies, minks, raccoon dogs, lions and tigers, WHO representative to Russia Melita Vujnovic stated on Monday.

“The Covid-19 virus spreads mostly via human-to-human transmission, but there’s proof of human-to-animal transmission since it’s a zoonotic virus,” Vujnovic stated in a meeting to Sputnik.
The WHO representative also stated that an” intermediate host” hasn’t been identified.
“Several critters — minks dogs, cats, domestic cats, lions, tigers and raccoon dogs — who’ve come in contact with contaminated individuals, have tested positive for Covid-19. The procedure for analyzing the impact of this virus on other types of creatures is penalized,” Vujnovic added.
Additionally, the health professional stated it is very important to comprehend which animals are “vulnerable to the virus so as to locate other possible animal reservoirs and prevent future outbreaks”.
Moreover, Vujnovic explained that the WHO urges coronavirus-positive folks to restrict contact with pets.
